eVenture is Charter Partners Institute’s flagship program, a one week hands-on entrepreneurial experience held each summer at Charter Farms. The next program is eVenture 2011 from June 20-25, 2011. To get an idea of what it is like, view the video below (video courtesy of DeSales University by Laura Merli and Andy To):
The program is designed to give high school students the confidence and skills to reach beyond the “right answers” taught in school and find their own innovative new answers. Why? First, because life is more fulfilling when you pursue your passions and know you have contributed to making some part of our world better. Second, because innovation skills are in very high demand. Companies must constantly reinvent themselves today when there are smart competitors all over the globe ready to copy and improve any technique or practice they can find.
At eVenture, you are in charge. You form a team, come up with your own innovation opportunity, and mold a novel new business or social initiative in 5 days−then present to an investment panel on Saturday. It is a lot of fun. You make new friends, build on the ideas of others, share trials and successes, interact with a variety of successful entrepreneurs/mentors, and let the magic of Charter Farms open your mind. It is also intense. During the week you challenge yourself to do things you probably have not done, learn how mistakes provide a path to success, and encounter things you did not even know to ask. In the end, it is both rewarding and valuable. Graduates regularly talk about how they leave with a new outlook on life and their own abilities.
If you choose, you can stay involved beyond the week to implement your venture, with a possibility of attracting funding support.
